what French cooking what little we have to Jakarta is generally too expensive and requires you to dress to impress, which is where the concept Poppy is born. Non-pretentious, simple and even borderline kitsch describe this place nestled in Cipete. The name itself refers to a poppy red that adorns French countryside and some of the walls of a capable artist left his mark these bright red beauties.

Now find this place is not really easy, but Head Chef and co-owner, Radian Rahmananta (aka chief Deddy) intended that way. "I want him to stay underground bistro. That's why the sign is outside really small and although we exist for almost five years, this sign only for less than one!" At least he is not because they are avoiding their tax payments. "This place is like a home," Chief Deddy said. "It is a neighborhood restaurant with lots of regular customers who notice the inconsistency." Chief Deddy spent eight years in Paris and lives and breathes French cuisine, referring to it as a culture.

So what are these regulars come here for? Entrees include a very tastySalade Roquefort with

apples and nuts (Roquefort cheese salad, tomatoes and walnuts), although I would have liked to see this comes with another form of lettuce that Iceburg Quich Lorraine and Quich Norvegienne (self explanatory and smoked salmon), and a must try consumed mushroom which is a mini-rich soup of mushrooms and sprinkle with nutmeg cream button espresso served in a glass. A perfect pre Main Course deal.

Mains include Grilled Beef (with the option of the eye of Australian rib or sirloin Australian) Travers Beef Barbecue sauce the (beef back ribs) Poultry (roasted chicken) fish (fish with the option of Dory or salmon) and Pasta (Pastas Lasagna Aglio Olio and in creamy sauces). Then Specials include three types of Foie Gras Fondue Savoyard (cheese fondue) and Fondue Bourguignonne (Beef Fondue), perfect for sharing with a few friends around a bottle of wine. In true French fashion, we tasted the cheese fondue which was a blend of Emmental and Gruyère, presented in a heavy and very tasty red pot.

For sweets, you can enjoy Profiterolles, Crepes and a delicious creme brulee lemon with berries. I'm not usually a fan of such a sweet dessert, but the creme brulee was really delicious; not too sweet and very light. Apparently the staff here have all gained weight since his arrival, and the relaxed pace and rich food, it is not surprising. Finish with delicious coffee (own Caswell) and if you dine on a Saturday night, you will be entertained by a pianist.

Also entertaining is the decoration, a mix of old and new, my favorite being the old End If ECLE posters on the walls and also an antique radio. Even the toilet looks like a collector's item. You must visit this place to understand what I mean, the pictures are not enough justice. Poppy is set in a picturesque place of relaxation to indulge in a tasty French cuisine unpretentious. Enjoy your meal!
