A Celebration of Indonesian Cuisine

WHERE is a good place to eat INDONESIAN foods

Bali is a strange place - you can find refined French cuisine easier than a good Indonesian restaurant. Somehow I find it difficult to answer the question, especially if the person applying for a tourist who has never been to Indonesia before. Of course, my typical Indonesian food will not suit the mouths of my tourist friends.

"Many tourists who come to Bali, they want to try Indonesian food, but they do not want to go to a warung. They are not safe to go to a local place, "said Melissa McCabe, marketing restaurants Merah Putih.

Apparently, this was the reason behind Merah Putih Restaurant, a new dining destination in Petitenget, Seminyak offering sumptuous Indonesian food in a stylish and sophisticated atmosphere. McCabe said the founders realized that there was a gap between the hotel restaurants offering good restaurants and independent Indonesian dishes that focus on the setting. Here's how the idea came.

Named after the national flag of this country, this restaurant is a celebration that honors Indonesia kitchens, design and people. They claim to be eating the most complete Indonesian destination Bali, perfect for locals and of course all the tourists who want to try authentic Indonesian food.

When I arrived at the restaurant, I'm quite surprised by appearance. It was far from traditional - I thought a lot of bamboo with tropical nuance, but I was wrong. Unlike other sophisticated dining destinations in Bali that enhances the view and the outdoor concept restaurant Merah Putih is proud of their indoor dining room, bringing the outside atmosphere inside.

"This is what differentiates us. This translucent roof collects rainwater that flows in through the pillars and stores in our groundwater reservoir. We do not pump groundwater and do not use water from the government, "said McCabe.

filtered with a UV filter water, water is used daily, and according to McCabe, it is even used for drinking water personnel. the water is recycled and only produces one percent of . waste. When illuminated, this roof and translucent pillars will beautifully glow to a cozy atmosphere in the restaurant. with coconut plants inside, there is no difference if you eat here, or under the moonlight.

There are four different sections in the restaurant. Upon arrival, guests will be directed to the bar where they can order drinks or just wait to be seated. The soft lighting and an elegant corner make it comfortable to sit and enjoy drinks and a light snack before the main. A wide variety of cocktails, wines and spirits are available. The restaurant has a wine cellar with 150 different wines from around the world. But their cocktails are more interesting.

Ngurah Arsana, the bar manager said, "We use local fruits, because the flavors are stronger and it is very refreshing"

The result is very cocktails. original. Ngurah replaces the main ingredients imported with local fruits, so you will have a local rambutan and grape martini instead of a lychee martini. Unfortunately, some drinks may not be available and depend on the season fruits.

on food, Merah Putih provides a complete selection from all over the country. They Sumatra podcast, curry, ayam taliwang, gulai kambing, babi guling, and many others.

the menu is divided into three. menu a la carte menu and vegetarian menu in the a la carte menu, guests can choose authentic tastes and fusion in sharing plates or larger portions at applicable, and side dishes many different choices of rice and vegetables. The price is very nice for a fine dining experience. The dishes in the small plates are priced at Rp.70,000 to Rp.90,000, while largely are Rp.135,000 to Rp.160,000.

On the menu, the price per person is Rp.290,000 and Rp.320,000 with a minimum of 10 people per table sharing food in small and large plates along with sides and sweets.

I tried their beef padang bak pao, which is the rendang meat slices placed in a bun bak pao. The beef was very tasty, fresh and very authentic taste, like rendang while I was eating my favorite restaurants Padang. Bebek sambal goreng eat mangga, I could taste a mixture of very thin slices of young mango sauce sweet yellow mango, rich flavor of shallots and strong Kemangi. It was a perfect combination that excited my taste buds. My dessert was Tarte kelapa a small coconut cream glass, local berries called buni (which tasted just like other imported berries), crunchy bites and coconut flesh, really gave a perfect ending.

The Merah Putih food is the translation of Indonesian food made according to the mouth of both local and tourists. As an Indonesian, I am very impressed. They also prepare eight different sambals that go well with different dishes to please all Indonesians who crave the hot and spicy food.

The first thing is that they test the sambal. If the sambal is right, everything else will be fine.
