students International Mentari School, Jakarta have been busy clean the areas around their school through several cleaning actions. Grade 10 students were getting their hands dirty by picking up garbage around their school, located on Jl. Haji Jian, South Jakarta, on Sunday to try to clean up their environment and make a change. The students were running cleanups on Sunday for weeks, began by picking up trash found around the school. As they could not find bags of rice or sugar bags to use, they used black plastic bags, but they reuse the bags for future cleanings.
The students have set up five cleanings half past one each for community service project and their school and have already completed two. The next three will take place in the coming months. Their guidance counselor will also make small cleaning with Grade 6 students in the next month.
Grade 10 students have even continued to pick up litter on school trips abroad. On their community study week trip to Vietnam, the students visited a grave and noticed a lot of waste in the area, and decided to gather what they could on their walk through the complex. They believe that small actions can make a big difference. Mentari International School Jakarta will also participate on the day of Jakarta Clean Up 2014
