I often tell people that you can not experience the real Bali, unless you are traveling north a bit ... in this case, north meant a jump in Avanza and driving an hour and a half ahead of Sanur on the windy roads in Lakeview Hotel and restaurant in the village of Penelokan on edge crater the caldera of Mount Batur. Mount Batur is technically any old volcano, but today refers to the smallest volcano emerging from the old caldera. Ninety minutes can seem a distance to lunch, but I can assure you it is worth it.

Halfway into the journey, the AC was turned off and the windows rolled down and when we reached our destination our wobbly legs were delighted to meet the fresh mountain air. Warmly welcomed by the restaurant staff, we walked through the main hall where a huge buffet spread has been laid out and made our way to the outdoor seating area where we were struck with the landscape - a beautiful 1215 meters above level the panoramic sea view over the lake with Danu Batur Gunung dominating it. The view takes you back in touch with Mother Nature -. A feeling that we sometimes lose our modern hectic lives

We sat at a long wooden table decorated with banana leaves overlooking the view below and I watched as tourists enjoyed their meals boozey while enjoying the beautiful scenery - it is certainly somewhere to romance that special someone. Lakeview was founded in 1964 by Mangku Darta and has since grown from its humble beginnings as a stay in a hotel with 20 rooms (two luxury, top eight and ten standard), a restaurant for lunch with 200  capacity and Danu Lounge which is a more private and exclusive restaurant area for breakfast and dinner, with WiFi and a real fireplace to snuggle up next for cool evenings. Our host, the lovely and warm Melati joined us and after a heart-warming Wedang jahe (hot ginger tea) and a chit-chat, rijstaffel banquet began, and what banquet he was.

We started with the soup of organic pumpkin, which was also brewed ginger and this was accompanied by garnishes of Acar (marinated fresh carrots, cucumber and pineapple with shallots and chilli) Tempe Manis Kacang (sweet fried tempeh) and Serundeng kelapa (fried coconut garnish). As we helped a few seconds, the clouds rolled and enveloped us, turning the canvas view of a gray Whitey. This is when the rider is very convenient.

Bebek Betutu (slow-cooked duck with Balinese spices) was presented to us next and was a favorite among our group of four strong. This was followed by Pork Satay and Satay Lilit Ikan (satay fish) Urabá (vegatables steamed with roast sauce with coconut) and sautéed vegetables accompanied white rice and Bakmi Goreng (noodles fried eggs). Each dish was fresh and very tasty.

Dessert was a banana fried selection bubuh Injin (black pudding rice), fruit salad and carrot cake. This looks great for candy, but the portions are bite a couple of sizes for each, making it the perfect treatment. The Deluxe Banquet Rp.225,000 net price / pax and are made with local ingredients, very important in Lakeview -. bread is freshly prepared on site, such as jams and was told, from yogurt

After lunch, the rain began to fall and even if we were mitigated, the atmosphere was certainly not . Legend has it that Bhatari Batur, goddess of the mountain gave birth to Dewi Danu, the Lady of the Lake, and is extremely protective of her, which is understandable given its beauty. The modern name refers to the Kintamani district and is derived from Sanskrit meaning "peaceful place" and peaceful it is. Lakeview holds several pensions, including the retirement of a writer and Hideaway Art where you can make batik painting and surrounded by inspiration. You can also enjoy mountain walks and hiking rise two hours on Mount Batur if you are so inclined. Otherwise come for a romantic getaway or gathering you through meditation, make sure you pack warm clothes and are ready for peace.
