Every weekend thousands of people travel from Jakarta to Bandung to visit the many outlet stores and dine in hotels, resort centers and outdoor restaurants. Hoping to escape the congestion of Jakarta, many are disappointed that Bandung suffered a similar fate at the weekend, with thousands of B plated cars clogging the roads. In this brief article, I would like to share some ideas out of town eating places where the traffic is not quite as bad as downtown Bandung.
Kampung Daun - One of the most known in the surrounding hills attractions around Bandung is this unique and remarkable place that offers a wide selection of dishes ; perhaps best known for its Indonesian cuisine, it also offers Western dishes such as steak, pizza and pasta. This traditional and cultural center includes dozens of Suang (traditional huts) catering for small groups or large gatherings. The whole complex is among a range of native and exotic tropical plants ferns, located in a small barrel where water runs over the red rocks - this native garden setting is a feast for your eyes. After lunch, it is almost irresistible to lie on comfortable cushions and listen to cascading water or regular rain - look around; you will be one of many to enjoy the tranquility and dosing off - ahhh, just happiness! For directions, it is best to view the site on the net, or rent a car and driver. Guaranteed not to disappoint.
Mandarin - If you are traveling through Lembang on the way to the volcano and hot springs in Ciater, there is a Chinese restaurant located just above the small fruit market on the left side of the road. Located on a right turn in the middle of the city, the Mandarin is a small rumah makan , led by the same couple married for almost 30 years and in all that time, he offered a bit better modest food in the Bandung area. His signature dish is kangkung cha , served in a sizzling plate with tender slices of steak and quail eggs This is a regional delicacy that all people come to enjoy. Other favorites here include crab and asparagus, fantastic frog legs, and all seafood The decor is simple but the food. sensational.
Burgundy restaurant - Not far from Lembang on the road to Marabaya This is a complete contrast to the Mandarin. Located on the ridge overlooking a beautiful green valley, it offers a wide variety of dishes in an enchanting setting. One of the many food offerings here is tempura - a tasty combination of shrimp and local vegetables in a light batter, or you can choose from a variety of Western dishes, washed down with a glass of wine, of which there is a pretty good choice. La Bourgogne restaurant is cool, and I mean this in two words -. It is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the view, but it can be cold, so bring a light jacket, especially if the evening meal
Descending the mountain of Burgundy, there is a new road that takes you through a subdivision (still developing), which is a great short cut to the Dago area. So rather than return to Lembang, turn right to Burgundy, then left on the main road and go to where there is a door to the ramp. Go through the door just waving at the guard and follow the road wind down at a crossroads, turn right and follow the road until it crosses another, keeping left until you Cloud 9.
Cloud 9 - This bar / restaurant has the best pizza in town and a breathtaking view of the city. Definitely worth a visit for a day or stay late at night and soak up the atmosphere. Located on a steep ridge, the building has a small entrance, but once you walk down, it opens in a fantastic open area with bridges Tudor and a relaxed atmosphere. Perched over the valley that falls under you, Cloud 9 has a more mundane look forward, but move in and you will not be disappointed.
Congo Restaurant & Gallery Wood - This is a day and night favorite spot for visitors who want to enjoy the mountain air and indulge in a good variety of food . Like many other restaurants in the Dago area, its surroundings are tastefully done, including the old mill and a wooden gallery, which exposed some beautiful furniture and wood grain highlighting beautiful colors. As with the Burgundy restaurant mentioned above, evening dinner guests in Congo can enjoy shows, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Mountain View Golf Club - As mentioned earlier Dago has many wonderful restaurants and cafes, but not many offer better food than the Mountain View Golf Club. Visitors are very welcome and the food has improved since the introduction of a new Italian chef. You deposit for lunch or just a drink, the view from the open balcony is breathtaking.
Café OZ - Although not located outside the city as most of the other restaurants mentioned above, Café OZ certainly worth a visit if you want a good restaurant an Australian flavor. As you would expect, it has wonderful meat pies and other Western food, but also offers good Indonesian values. A very good place to take the family, Café OZ offers something a little different and is the main street Jl Bungur No. 23.
Bamboo Shack -. Located near the terminal minibus Dago, it is worth if a new visit to Bandung. Besides a wide selection of food in the min-market, eat in or take away (suggest you try the Jerry Burger) is upstairs internet café Information Centre and tourism that can help provide precious details and directions to many of the fine restaurants and attractions around Bandung.
