Sunday brunch game Jakarta is about, and the new spectrum of participating Fairmont hopes to get into the action.
innovative thingsWe humans have always been. We have a long list of important inventions under our belts, all of which have advanced our interests and generally contributed to the common good. The steam engine. The Iphone. Penicillin. Brunch.
Think about it. When else is it acceptable to consume - in no particular order - oysters, pancakes, steak, Champagne and coffee in one sitting? For brunch (small lunch sister, big brother for breakfast) is really a fabulous invention. Something a Sunday tradition emerge in hotels of South Asia, it simultaneously allows your child to run free of internal fat, while you are getting slowly sozzled and catch up on the value of a week with chatter friends and family. What is there in life, really?
It was therefore with pleasure that we visited Spectrum Restaurant The new Fairmont Jakarta Hotel for their Sunday. The Fairmont, Senayan, is open for six months, and there is a sweet feeling distinctly sophisticated to the place, with dark wood and gray fresh in the restaurant. Between noon and 15 pm Rp.595,000 .. you will get the field open buffet spectrum, including mojitos and soft drinks at will. A very good case that the brunch is in this city. But that does not care, that you are really here for the beer .. free circulation Rp.1.2m, red, white or sparkling wine. Although their wine list (including glass) is quite good, at today's prices, it's probably worth going for the package if you drink more than one.
For food. What can hotels do to really differentiate these days? You kiddy-friendly at the Shangri-La, Indo-chic at Dharmawangsa, and all-out extravagance in Mulia. So where the spectrum is the Fairmont
At first glance, it is the same classic brunch buffet stations :? Fruit, eggs, seafood and meats, salad, waffles and pancakes, noodles and dessert. At any hotel buffet brunch, you expect to find competent versions, freshly baked all these at least. But there must be something more to tantalize the taste buds of today and scare the competition -. And Spectrum provides that
First, the bases themselves are pretty well - but they should be. There is really no excuse for less-than-perfect eggs, smoked salmon and pastries. It is when we come to the most interesting things that the restaurant shows its quality. Spectrum leaders bring freshly made around special fun - mouth as foie gras pieces, or really delicious pumpkin espuma ( hot, frothy soup) thrown in your glass to the table - it was so good, we had two. You can also pick up small appetizer buffet. - We had a few bites, delicate fresh crab with a mild frost of watermelon to start us
Specify the popularity of the hotel with North Asian customers, there are also excellent sushi station. Fresh fish is whipped in front of your eyes sashimi, served with appropriate accompaniments ginger, wasabi and sauce. Also in the Asian theme, we saw congee, noodles, ayam bakar , dim sum and Peking duck to name a few. The Indian selection, including a wonderful dal makhani was great - that black, butter, rich lentil dish is perfect when mopped up with naan bread. The tandoori chicken was delicious. Very soft, but always expertly chargrilled outside
If you are in more of a Western mindset, look no further than the first-ribs, slices your taste. You can do this in the US with dirt mini baked potatoes and barbecue sauce, or full of Brit with Yorkshire puds and gravy. No prizes for guessing who I chose. Though not quite my mother, Yorkies were a little taste very welcoming home, and well flavored sauce. in the Western theme (via Mexico) were also chicken tortillas and guacamole - another unusual find in hotel buffets brunch, which tasted authentic. There's even pizza and pasta if it takes your fancy.
The real clincher for Spectrum, however, is their chargrill station. Here, from a range of many other meats, fish and shellfish, you can have a beautiful, plump lobster expertly grilled to order and on your table. For a moment I thought my toes were in the sand on the beach of Jimbaran. This, for me, was one of the main things that sets Spectrum apart.
The desserts were slightly less impressive than expected, mainly consisting of a range of mini cakes, jellies and foams. But to their credit, there is a wide range of local delicacies, including a small glass jar of bubur Injin . Creams and homemade sorbets were also good; I tried the guava.
So after a giant party for almost three hours, we felt that we had brunch with the justice of Spectrum. Whether for the good of humanity or not remains to be seen (my waistline does not think so) - but somehow we ended the meal deal: brunch, especially in Jakarta, is a wonderful invention and should be delivered as often as possible. Next time, give it a go Spectrum. You will not be disappointed.
